Look the signs are fighting with each other!
If you notice the towers just to the right of the yellow sign, those are the
microwave towers from the top of Black Mountain, for which the park is named
| |
| "Glider Port" is what we call it, why?
| |
| Because up until recently hang gliders would
practice on this steep hill and short descent, or glide all the way down from the
top of Black Mountain
| |
| Clicky style! Panoramic shot from atop "Mole Hill"
off to the South side of Glider Port.
|

The shot begins facing South towards Sea World, we would spend
many a summers night watching their firework show, while getting
great reception on our CB's
|
| Shots provided by the extra few more feet of
height from standing on top of the now topless runner
| |
| Burned ground and many many nails from
many many bon fires and the many many pallets burned here
| |
| Mindy being her doggy self
| |
| Crazy steep hill that Pet-Her-Nut attempted
one night way back in the day, after making it about 50 yards up he wisely decided
to back down
| |
| Coming down "Mole Hill" on the steep direct side,
very un-even decent due to many open diff's trying to climb on the loose sand and small
rocks we live and wheel on
| |
| Mindy testing out some of the mats that
the Hang Gliders put out for padding? or to prevent errosion/plant re-growth? I don't know
| |
| Beginnings of a quite difficult hill climb to the
top of Black Mountain, a few years back a Jeep attempted this trail (I think) and ended
up rolling several times, his kids were okay, but he didn't survive
| |
| Looking back at Mole Hill and about four of the
half dozen or so ways to climb it, and the sweet giant Live Oak that lives up there. The
hill I came down is the one on the right of the tree
| |
| Mostly dry mud pits to the East of Glider Port.
The last time we took Travis' pile out wheeling he got nice and stuck fooling around
and I had to pull him out, good times!
It's dry now, but still green due to the extremely unusual for San Diego rain in July,
you know why right? Yeah cuze the top is off and the 4runner don't fit in the garage
anymore...you ever get the feeling the whole word is against you?
| |
| Not so good panoramic shot. Just to the right of
my little gap you can make out the end of the main road as it goes to the new housing
development
|
 |
Somebody threw out a perfectly good Firestone!
Perfectly good is relative...
| |
| "Off Road Vehicle Activity Prohibited" sign
in the middle of a hill, why? because there used to be an awesome short and steep
hill climb that Dan loved to take in the Bug here, but they blocked it off
| |
| Another trail they blocked off, and the new one
10' away. Funny how they think that obstacles will prevent 4wheelers from doing
what they love, climbing obstacles
| |
| Nice assortment of rules and regulations,
we've broken them all, except maybe the gathering and collecting one, unless you
count collecting dust. Hell I was breaking one at the time (no leash on Mindy)
|
While in my reflective state I got to thinking about laws rules and regulations.
I was also reminded of something my Criminology Professor told us about
selective enforcement of laws, "a former police commissioner was saying how
there are 30,000 vehicular laws in his county. How are you supposed to
enforce 30,000 laws? Of course some are and some aren't"
|
| Where the road that used to go though to the
other side has been blocked off, why you ask?
| |
| Cuze they dug a big freaking hole where it used
to be that's why
