Splitty's 91 Extra Cab

Project Intro:
You know how hardcore off road guys buy cars for daily drivers because they're always working on their trucks? Well I got tired of fixing my 1970 Datsun 240z and I wanted something rugged and dependable, so I obviously went with a Toyota truck. Although we went to middle and high school together, I didn't start hanging out with the rest of the Siesta crew until I stopped Dan at the local mobil and started talking truck, and went on a few proving ground runs.

Engine and Drivetrain:
V6 3VZE engine replaced 60k ago
Stock 5 speed tranny
NWOR Headers 2.5" custom piping, Borla muffler, OE style Cat
Extended diff breathers Nissan, p/n 38323-C6010. I have no love for changing old diff oil every time I play in the water.

Cooling:
3-core brass radiator Radiator.com Came highly recommended from Sweaty
Flex-a-lite Black Magic Fan SummitRacing.com

Suspension and Steering:
3" Rancho Suspension Lift Buying a lifted truck sucks, it's never what you want...
ESB Fabrications Steering Center-Link, pitman and idler arms, that don't suck
Total Chaos Tie Rods Baja Concepts Pic

Wheels and Tires:
15x8 Aluminum Rims (there when I bought them)
32x11.5 BFG Mud Terrains

Electronics:
Uniden CB Radio, Firestick antenna Pic Mounted in the blank dash spot below the CD player. great for communications on and off the trail
Alpine CD player Works great until you get a pound of Ocotillo dust in it...
Rockford Fosgate Punch 400x4 amp
Tweeters
12" Kenwood subwoofer with custom $20 swap meet box It would rock if I had a decent box...
2 5.25" Pioneer speakers custom mounted in the doors
Optima Red-Top battery Optima Batteries 'Cuze everybody else got one

Lighting:
Hella 500 series driving lights
Rear facing Blazer driving lights otherwise known as back-up lights

Exterior:
Custom Rear Bumper 4"x2"x1/4" tube, wrapped around from rear mud-flap to rear mud-flap in a giant "U." D-shackles and light tabs added as well.

Interior:
Auto Meter 2 1/8" water temp gauge Extremely important because the OE gauge has three positions, cold normal and f**ked. Mounted in stock A-pillar
Rear window tint
Fire extinguisher mounted in between the two rear seats

Misc:
Rear tailgate emblem modified to fool people Pic
Three note caddy horn
Custom switch panel in drivers door

Best Mod:
Steering mods I like to turn, it's nice

Best Break:
Broke and cracked BOTH Rancho upper a-arms.
Best Part: Had to drive home from the proving grounds with wheels pointing in way different directions.

Worst Mod:
Re-buying the same Rancho lift after it breaks, AND after their customer service tells me on the phone that the lift is for aesthetics only and if the truck sees dirt the warranty is void.

Coming Soon: Please send $$$
This project has pretty much been concluded. Kevin decided that building this truck would not be wise because it's not what he wants in the long run. So until either A. Kev wins the lotto or B. Kev graduates from college he will simply weekend warrior it, and eventually replace it with something much more intense.

Quotable Quotes:
"I.F.S. Sucks"
"Rancho Sucks"
"Sweaty, your exhaust fell off"
"I don't rock crawl with my IFS open diff pickup, I rock bounce..."
